Many people in my generation have life patterns very different from our grandparents, but grannies still ask us questions about things they think it "should" be, especially during holiday family gatherings.
My boss got the wedding announcement a few weeks ago from one of the directors of our oveseas offices (in his mid-40's). The bride was one of the colleagues who had started working at the agency on the the same day as I did (in her early 30's ) My boss was obviously quite surprised, while my reaction was somewhat nonchalant--I have classmates who are married to Italian, Japanese, as well as to someone who is 14 years older.
A friend living in the US had a similar experience in an extended family gathering during Thanksgiving. Her relative asked her for her age & if she wanted kids. She was thinking to herself all the while, that she was not even remotely married, so why would she have to think about kids?
