A friend is planning to travel to South America with another friend, but has chosen to plan for the trip on their own rather than joining a tour.
Much preparation later, my friend wonders if it would be more efficient to join a tour. However, if the goal is more than to be efficient in sightseeing, I personally perfer DIY travel.
You can:
1. sleep in as much as you want and take your time for breakfast before you start your day (all luxuries during work days.)
2. savor the unexpected pleasures as you sightsee (for example, browsing in quaint handicraft shops along the way.)
3. spend more time in places that interest you (for me, local bookstores.)
All these are what makes traveling different from staying at home, right?
