Be glad for all God is planning for you. (Romans 12:12, NLT)
After anxiously waiting for the formal announcement on my re-assignment to the headquarters for a week, I finally received it right before I left the office this weekend. It's an answer to my prayer. God operates on a totally different frame in terms of space and time, so His timing is always perfect. Many factors are coming together for my reassignment, just as the time of assignment.
After 3 years in Seoul, I get the experience of working overseas for future work in and out of my agency. It's time to move on in order for me to grow professionally. Equally important is that God is opening the door for ministry in Taipei. Christians account for only about 3% of the population in Taiwan. I know an American missionary couple working in Taiwan for almost 20 years, but they have worked in other parts of the island in the past. They have moved to Taipei this past September, so I will have the opportunity to actually work with them when I return. A disproportionate number of my brothers and sisters in TAITRA Christian fellowship have been assigned to work abroad in the past few years. I would like to join those who remain in the HQ, as we strive to be ambassadors of Christ in the mission field in which God has placed us.
Personally I will also be able to spend a little more time with my parents as they get older, as well as returning to the pursuit of a host of things, including a certificate at the seminary extension program and Spanish lessons in preparation for the next overseas assignment.
I have started looking into what I will bring back to Taipei. Most will be thrown away or given away. I hope everything will fit into the 3 pieces of luggages I have. Life is a journey. Travel it light.
